Nutritional IV

Intravenous Therapy

What types of nutrients can be given intravenously? Who might benefit from IV nutritional therapy?

There is a wide array of vitamins and nutritional supplements that can be given by means of an IV. Some of the better known are selenium, glutathione, B vitamins, and vitamin C. These nutrients can be administered individually or in combination.

Patients that may benefit from nutritional IV’s:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chemotherapy
  • GI Malabsorption
  • Adrenal Fatigue
  • Known Nutritional Deficiencies
  • Detoxification
  • Common Cold/Viruses
How do you qualify for IV nutritional therapy?
A baseline nutritional evaluation must be completed to accurately and safely prescribe nutritional IVs. Intravenous method of administration can be very beneficial for patients with gastrointestinal disruptions because it bypasses the GI tract and is easier for patients to tolerate. When nutrients are given via IV, the patient is able to achieve rapid therapeutic blood levels.
Some of the IV nutrients that Dean Wellness Institute offers are as follows:
Myers Cocktail
This is a combination of B vitamins, vitamin C, and magnesium. It can be beneficial in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome, adrenal insufficiency, fibromyalgia, and those in a “run down” state.
Vitamin C
This vitamin is an imperative part of many metabolic pathways in the human body. It can be beneficial to help repair a weakened immune system and is helpful in fighting viruses. It has been used for many years to strengthen the immune system of cancer patients. Higher doses of vitamin C can frequently cause GI complaints, however vitamin C given intravenously eliminates this common side effect.
Glutathione
Glutathione is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body. It is critical to help the immune system to function normally. One of the major roles of glutathione is to remove free radicals that are produced by the cells of the immune system.
Oxidative IV
Oxidative therapy is beneficial in treating and preventing a wide array of conditions including viral and fungal infections, joint pains, and also carries anti-aging benefits. This process works by stimulating the immune system to facilitate healing.
NAD
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD) is a metabolic co-enzyme that aids in structuring, repairing, and restoring the cells within your body. This is beneficial for treatment for chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, addiction (such as alcohol, sugar, food, and smoking), and many other chronic ailments.
Chelation Therapy Benefits
Do you suffer from hypertension, peripheral neuropathy or memory loss? These are just a few of the ways that excessive heavy metals can affect the human body. Heavy metals can alter many of the enzymatic pathways that affect how the cells of our body function. Because so many different pathways can be interrupted, the symptoms that a patient can present with are varied. It depends on each individual and what heavy metal has collected in the body as to what symptoms are presented. Many patients have been to a variety of healthcare providers with vague complaints with no apparent cause.
A few of the most common heavy metals that are found in the body during an investigation are lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic. All of these metals can be found in items we come into contact with on a daily basis. Many people have cancers that may have exposed them to these metals. Others may be endemic to specific locations we have lived. No matter how we have accumulated these metals, the effects can be devastating.
Dr. Dean encourages an evaluation of your heavy metal burden. Once tested, an individualized plan of care will be developed to remove these burdensome metals from your system. This will require evaluation of renal function, halting any ongoing accumulation of metals, chelation to remove unwanted heavy metals, and follow up testing at regular intervals.
Chelating agents can be administered by intravenous, oral or suppository methods.
It is vital that this process be monitored by a knowledgeable healthcare provider.
